Emmy Noetherweg 2D, Leiden, Zuid-Holland, 2333 BK, The Netherlands

Overview

LeydenJar Technologies is a Dutch battery startup focused on manufacturing pure silicon anodes for lithium-ion batteries that can raise energy capacity by 50 % while reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 85 %. The firm targets applications ranging from consumer electronics and AI wearables to electric vehicles and aviation, where higher energy density and faster charging are critical. To industrialize its breakthrough, LeydenJar is completing its first production plant in Eindhoven and aims to begin mass production in 2027. The company recently opened a sales and business development office in Richmond, Virginia, signalling its entry into the U.S. market. Its technology is positioned to overcome the size and weight limitations of conventional graphite anodes, enabling more compact and efficient batteries. Financially, LeydenJar has secured €43 million to date from a mix of equity, customer funding, grants and loans, including a new €7.8 million equity tranche. Dutch pension fund ABP has joined the cap table, and the company was advised by Stifel on its latest raise, underscoring growing institutional confidence in the venture.
