Lightsynq develops optical quantum interconnect technology to enable hardware providers to link quantum processors and overcome single-system scaling limits. The company’s approach uses color centers in diamond photonic devices to build quantum memory and interconnect hardware. Founded by former Harvard quantum networking experts and AWS Center for Quantum Networking leaders, the team includes Dr. Mihir Bhaskar (CEO), Dr. Bart Machielse (CTO) and Dr. David Levonian (CPO). Lightsynq came out of stealth with plans to combine a quantum networking platform and scalable photonic fabrication to enable foundry-scale production. The startup aims to increase usable qubits across networks to accelerate industrial and commercial applications of quantum computing in areas like chemistry, materials and cybersecurity. The announced funds will be directed to building the company’s quantum interconnect technology and scaling manufacturing capabilities.
