Loci Orthopaedics
Block 3 Corporate House, Ballybrit Business Park, Galway, H91 KT67, Ireland
Overview
Loci Orthopaedics develops the patented InDx Implant System, an evidence-based implant designed to replicate the functional biomechanics of the thumb base joint and restore natural motion for patients with thumb base joint arthritis. The device targets a highly prevalent condition estimated to affect up to 5% of the US and EU populations and roughly 100 million people worldwide. Initial clinical investigation completed enrollment of a 15-patient study in October 2023 with preliminary positive results; full results are expected to be published later this year. The company says InDx’s novel design could address limitations of current thumb implants that are prone to dislocation and movement post-implantation. The Series A will fund expansion of clinical programs, development of additional clinical data to support regulatory approval applications, and efforts toward future commercialization in the US, EU and other geographies. To date the company has raised over €22 million in grant and equity financing and is headquartered in Galway, Ireland as a spin-out from the University of Galway, University College Cork and KU Leuven.
