Overview
Locket is a social photo-sharing app that places real-time images from loved ones directly on users’ iOS and Android home-screen widgets. Created by founder Matt Moss as a personal side project, the product focuses on intimate sharing with up to 20 close contacts, positioning itself as an antidote to algorithmic feeds and like-driven social networks. Since debuting on New Year’s Day 2022, the app has topped the Apple App Store charts, accumulated more than 20 million downloads and facilitated over 1 billion photos sent. The company’s premise is to make phones feel more personal by centering the experience around the 10-15 people that matter most to each user. Future product roadmap items include new ways to respond to photos, features that keep home screens dynamic, and the eventual introduction of a subscription model, all while avoiding filters or effects that could detract from authenticity. The fresh capital will be used primarily for hiring and accelerating feature development to reinforce its product vision. Financially, Locket has raised a total of $12.5 million to date across two rounds, providing resources for growth while it experiments with monetization.
