Madam Therapeutics is a Leiden, The Netherlands-based biotech developing a novel class of antibiotics inspired by the human body's defense mechanisms. The company designs Synthetic Anti-Microbial and Anti-Biofilm Peptides (SAAPs) that combine killing of (resistant) bacteria with a limited likelihood of emerging resistance. Its lead candidate is SAAP-148, intended for the treatment of broad spectrum multi-drug resistant infections.
