  Madam Therapeutics is a Leiden, The Netherlands-based biotech developing a novel class of antibiotics inspired by the human body's defense mechanisms. The company designs Synthetic Anti-Microbial and Anti-Biofilm Peptides (SAAPs) that combine killing of (resistant) bacteria with a limited likelihood of emerging resistance. Its lead candidate is SAAP-148, intended for the treatment of broad spectrum multi-drug resistant infections. With academic partners, the company has developed a family of over 300 unique SAAPs and a pipeline of SAAP-based products. Madam Therapeutics has raised substantial non-dilutive funding to support development and recently closed a €1.1M first financing round. It is actively fundraising for the next stages of clinical trials, broadening its pipeline, and seeking co-development partners for further development and commercialization.
