Manabie is an online education platform founded in January 2020 that aims to bring elements of Japan’s high-quality education to Vietnam. Its operating model merges online and offline learning through a mobile app and physical learning centers to maximize the efficiency of online-based education. The company’s mobile app has amassed more than 350,000 downloads within a year of launching, and Manabie operates five learning centers in Ho Chi Minh City where individual counsellors guide students. These counsellors help students set college and career goals, develop customized learning plans, and provide motivation—an approach Manabie says is a hallmark of Japanese education. Manabie plans to scale the model across Vietnam while focusing on improving user experience at a reasonable cost to create positive impacts on learners. The company intends to use recent funding to enhance its technology platform and strengthen its school presence in Vietnam.
