Medinas Health

2120 University Avenue, Third Floor, Berkeley, California, 94704, United States

Overview

Medinas is a technology-driven, cloud-based asset management marketplace that helps hospitals and health-care organizations track, redeploy, resell, donate, and recycle pre-owned medical equipment. The platform includes a Medinas Price Book to value equipment and tools to redeploy and remarket assets across hospital systems, and gives smaller hospitals access to pre-owned equipment. The company positions its software as a solution to widespread reliance on spreadsheets, citing U.S. market counts of over 6,200 hospitals, 9,200 ambulatory surgery centers, 7,000 imaging centers, and 166,000 dental clinics. Based in Berkeley, California, Medinas plans to use new funding to expand sales and hire software development talent. It is developing new features focused on inventory management, equipment redeployment, and maintenance management to bolster hospitals' asset-management capabilities. In January 2019 Medinas won $1 million at WeWork’s Creator Awards. Medinas Health operates a data-driven marketplace that enables hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, vet practices, nursing homes and product suppliers to securely buy and sell surplus and short-date medical supplies and equipment. The platform integrates with existing systems and workflows at healthcare organizations to provide a user-friendly buying and selling experience. The company aims to reduce medical waste and help healthcare organizations monetize surplus inventory and short-date products that would otherwise be discarded, targeting a portion of the cited $765 billion in wasted healthcare dollars. Led by CEO Chloe Alpert, Medinas plans to use newly raised funds to launch a beta and pilot its platform with partners in mid-2018. Initial commercial efforts will focus on onboarding healthcare organizations and product suppliers to build out sales.
