Its core product enables live one-to-many broadcasts, primarily via its iOS app. The app experienced rapid user growth, topping 160K users earlier and reportedly exceeding 300K users total, with over 200K from iOS. Twitter’s talks to buy Periscope and its defensive restriction of social-graph access provided validation and influenced Meerkat’s fundraising environment.
