Mesenbio
University of York Wentworth Way Biology Department, York, Argyll and Bute, YO10 5DD, United Kingdom
Overview
Mesenbio is a University of York spin-out founded by Professor Paul Genever and Dr David Kuntin and based on work at the university's Biomedical Research Institute. The company is developing a novel treatment for arthritis created from engineered human stem cells, initially targeting rheumatoid arthritis. The therapy is based on nano-sized messengers created from engineered human stem cells that curb inflammation and can kick-start regeneration of damaged tissue. Mesenbio raised £1.4m in funding to advance its program. The funding will enable the company to create three new roles, develop pilot manufacturing processes, carry out pre-clinical studies and prepare the regulatory dossier in readiness for clinical trials.
