Overview

Metadata.io builds an operating system for B2B marketers that uses AI and machine learning to automate technical, mundane, and repetitive paid-campaign tasks so marketers can focus on strategy, creativity, and experimentation. The platform helps automate campaigns and optimize them to revenue across channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Quora, and Display. In 2021 the Metadata platform executed nearly $50 million of digital spend for over 150 customers, producing over $130 million in marketing-sourced pipeline and over $2 billion of influenced pipeline. The company reports 711% year-over-year growth over the past 24 months and added over 110 new customers in the last 12 months. Metadata holds five patents and a database of 1.5 billion business profiles segmented by technographics, firmographics, and buyer-intent signals, and has high customer satisfaction scores on G2 and LinkedIn. The new capital will be used to develop a new software category, expand platform capabilities, and triple down on growth toward its vision as the first operating system for B2B marketers. Metadata.io offers a platform that automates B2B marketing execution, positioning itself as middleware for the sales and marketing stack. The product moved to general availability and emphasizes removing manual work from marketing operations. It provides ad-targeting capabilities and a product called MetaMatch for building custom audiences on Facebook, LinkedIn and programmatic display. Metadata maintains a proprietary database of 1.4 billion customer profiles, which the company says helps amid privacy regulation and ad-tracking restrictions. Demand for the platform has increased since the start of the pandemic as B2B customers shift away from in-person channels. Notable customers include Zoom, Drift, Pendo, Udacity and Vonage. Metadata offers a service that syncs with Salesforce and other CRM systems to identify qualified leads and use third-party data to target similar prospects with advertising. The company emphasizes focusing on leads that have expressed interest, which it says makes its targeting highly effective. Advertisers run search and social campaigns through Metadata; the startup is also exploring banner advertising and notes Facebook is an effective channel. Customers include Cisco, Comcast and UBM. Metadata provides an automation feature (“Amplify That”) that lets marketers set a goal or budget and run campaigns with minimal hands-on work. The company recently raised seed funding to support growth and product development.
