MetroGames is an Argentinian social gaming company that operates more than 30 games on Facebook and its own standalone social gaming site. Its core product is a portfolio of social games and a social gaming platform. The company raised $5 million in Series A funding from game developer Playdom to expand development of its games and platform. Playdom’s CEO John Pleasants will join MetroGames’ board. Pleasants said he believes MetroGames will become a "big player in the social gaming market." The financing is intended to accelerate MetroGames’ game development and platform growth in the social gaming space.
