Mi Terro

1927 Paseo Rancho Castilla, Los Angeles, California, 90032, United States

Overview

Mi Terro was founded in 2018 by Robert Luo and develops polymers extracted from agricultural waste that can be grafted and extruded into flexible films, straws, containers and other packaging. The company’s process separates proteins, fibers and starches, then modifies them via grafting so the resulting material can be formed using standard manufacturing methods. Mi Terro offers both water‑soluble and water‑resistant formulations; in‑house data indicate natural degradation around one year and decomposition within 180 days in industrial composting. The startup previously sold roughly $100,000 of textile products made from milk waste but pivoted from a B2C textile model to industrial packaging applications after joining the 100+ accelerator tied to AB InBev and Unilever. The team is five people, including product experts in China, and plans to stand up manufacturing in China while maintaining a U.S. office. The company raised capital to scale production and will change processing methods and equipment while managing logistics to source spent grain from breweries.
