Proprietary machine learning models analyze the physical morphology of over 40 distinct agricultural threats, including Alternaria and Downy Mildew. The company currently operates a global automated sensor network of about 250 units and plans to scale to 1,000 active deployments by 2029. BioScout intends to expand commercially across Europe and enter the Brazilian soybean market. The company is led by founder and CEO Dr. Lewis Collins and recently raised A$6.75m (US$4.8m) in Seed funding.

    Founded in 2025 and based in Wageningen, Aardaia builds a breeding platform that combines whole-genome sequencing, computational biology and phenotyping to identify and domesticate wild plant species. The company explicitly avoids genetic modification and gene editing, instead accelerating conventional breeding through predictive genomics and high-throughput evaluation. Its first product, the aardaker, is a protein-rich tuber intended to combine root-crop productivity with legume-like nitrogen-fixing properties and to reduce reliance on imported protein crops while requiring no synthetic nitrogen fertilizer. Aardaia expects to screen about 750,000 unique aardaker genotypes this year and plans to scale that to roughly two million with the new funding. The €5 million seed raise will be used to expand the breeding platform and speed development of the aardaker as it continues to create new crop varieties from wild species.
