Overview

Minut is a Malmö-based company that helps property managers and hosts monitor properties and automate workflows using its Minut sensor. The sensor detects noise, occupancy, cigarette smoke, motion, and temperature while designed to respect guest privacy. Minut offers automation and integrations to help property managers grow businesses and keep operations lean. This year the company launched a sensor that monitors noise both indoors and outdoors and introduced a cigarette smoke detector. Minut plans to use new funding to fund multiple product initiatives and to accelerate international expansion. The company intends to increase hiring across Europe and the USA and pursue new verticals leveraging its short-term rental leadership. The Series B round has now been extended to $20M, providing additional runway for those plans. Minut builds a palm-sized IoT sensor that analyzes sound, occupancy, motion and temperature on-device to protect guest privacy while detecting parties, over‑occupancy and disturbances in vacation rentals. The company positions the product as a co‑host tool that contacts guests when problems arise; Minut says that in over 90% of cases the issue is resolved after outreach. Its edge‑analysis approach avoids streaming audio or video to the cloud, enabling near‑real‑time alerts without compromising privacy. Minut sells the sensor for $50 and offers a $150 per year subscription, and says this SaaS orientation is central to its business strategy. The company claims tens of thousands of devices are in operation in more than 100 countries and it maintains offices in the U.S., U.K., Sweden, France and Spain. With the new funding Minut plans to further expand its privacy‑forward solutions for the hospitality sector. Minut builds a camera-less home security IoT device that relies on sensors such as infrared motion detection and a microphone, with real-time machine learning performed on the device rather than in the cloud. The device extracts features locally and sends only a fingerprint to a global classifier, which the company says prevents reconstruction of sound and preserves user privacy. Minut was founded in 2014 and has been granted a patent for its architecture earlier this year. To date it has sold more than 10,000 units in 60 countries and employs around 30 people across offices in Malmö, Stockholm and a newly opened London office. The company plans to use new capital to accelerate market growth and strengthen its product portfolio. Total funding to date is $10 million following the latest round. Minut builds the Point, a privacy-focused home alarm device that detects smoke, loud noises, and movement as an alternative to security cameras. Point senses events when no one is at home and alerts homeowners or neighbours if something unusual is detected. The device is sold directly to consumers and through partnerships with insurance and telecom companies. Minut intends to invest new funding in forging additional partnerships and growing its sales and marketing operations. The company previously graduated from the HAX hardware accelerator and is based in Malmö. CEO Nils Mattisson has described Point as the first home alarm that respects privacy while giving homeowners comfort.
