Minute.ly, founded in 2014 and based in Tel Aviv, offers a video optimisation tool tailored to sports, entertainment, and news companies. The company blends crowdsourced data and artificial intelligence, using deep/machine learning to provide insights into video performance and engagement. Its proprietary technology claims to automatically analyse hundreds of videos and extract the five most thrilling seconds to create video teasers and connect viewers with targeted content on broadcasting sites. CEO and co-founder Amit Golan says the product helps publishers maximise revenue and cut costs amid rising IP video traffic. The recent financing will support further development of Minute.ly’s AI-driven solutions and global scaling. Total reported funding to date is $12 million. Minute builds an Android and web application that identifies the most viral parts of online videos using big data and crowd data and converts those moments into short, Vine-like clips. The platform surfaces engaging highlights so users can discover more videos and choose video packages based on interest. On mobile, users swipe through a deck of video cards—swiping right to like and left to skip—using an interface likened to Tinder. Highlights can be paused, repeated, and shared, letting users swipe through a reel of short clips instead of watching full-length videos. Minute has raised a cumulative $4M in funding from unnamed investors to develop its video-technology products.
