Mobincube offers a drag-and-drop, template-driven web app builder that lets non-developers assemble apps with navigation, forms, communications and content elements and publish to iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and HTML5. The Valencia-based startup reports 115,000 users who have published more than 18,000 apps, a 30% monthly growth rate and over one million new downloads per month. Its business model mixes advertising (taking a 30% cut of in-app ad revenue for free users) and two paid publishing offerings for premium customers. Product roadmap items listed as coming soon include social network integration, embedded audio/video and augmented reality. Mobincube says its tools can also speed up developers’ output by automating multi-platform code generation and submission. The company plans to use the funding to accelerate U.S. expansion, including opening a Silicon Valley office this year, and to boost its global competitiveness.
