Modal Labs
584 Broadway Ste 1001, New York, NY, 10012, United States
Overview
Modal builds a general compute platform tailored to complex AI workloads using custom storage layers and GPU container snapshotting to reduce cold starts. Its architecture enables dynamic scaling from zero to thousands of GPUs for automated batch jobs, model fine-tuning and real-time inference. Modal powers over 1 billion isolated container sandboxes and counts customers including DoorDash, Cognition, Decagon, Suno, Physical Intelligence and Chai Discovery. The company has crossed $300 million in annualized revenue following a fivefold growth surge. Modal plans to expand low-latency inference primitives, streamline reinforcement-learning training loops and scale its parallel sandbox infrastructure. It was founded by Erik Bernhardsson and Akshat Bubna and is headquartered in New York City.
