Morphin
Rennes, Bretagne, France
Overview
Morphin builds a mobile app that maps users' selfies onto GIFs to create personalized CGI clips that can be shared on iOS and Android. After three years in stealth it launched a put-you-in-a-GIF maker that regenerates each clip as CGI rather than manipulating original footage. The product works with a regular selfie (no 3D scanning hardware) and its apps produce exportable, watermark-free GIFs. Morphin's nine-person French team reports over 1 million scenes created by 50,000 beta users and says celebrity shares drive discovery. The company is not yet monetizing but plans to sell longer premium video scenes à la carte or as an unlimited subscription and to highlight sponsored clips. Morphin also envisions longer-term storytelling uses for personalized digital characters.
