Overview
Motif Neurotech is developing the DOT microstimulator, a miniature wireless, battery-free brain pacemaker intended to precisely stimulate neural circuits to treat mental health disorders. The company’s initial clinical focus is treatment-resistant depression (TRD). The DOT device is designed for implantation in an approximately 20-minute outpatient procedure and has capability for at-home therapy. The implant is enabled by wireless magnetoelectric power transfer technology developed at Rice University and was founded by Rice faculty Jacob Robinson and Kaiyuan Yang along with physicians Sunil Sheth and Sameer Sheth. Jacob Robinson serves as CEO and Founder. Motif plans to use recent financing to advance the device into a clinical study for patients with TRD.
