  • Motif Neurotech

    Participated · Series A · Jan 2024

Motif Neurotech is developing the DOT microstimulator, a miniature wireless, battery-free brain pacemaker intended to precisely stimulate neural circuits to treat mental health disorders. The company’s initial clinical focus is treatment-resistant depression (TRD). The DOT device is designed for implantation in an approximately 20-minute outpatient procedure and has capability for at-home therapy. The implant is enabled by wireless magnetoelectric power transfer technology developed at Rice University and was founded by Rice faculty Jacob Robinson and Kaiyuan Yang along with physicians Sunil Sheth and Sameer Sheth. Jacob Robinson serves as CEO and Founder. Motif plans to use recent financing to advance the device into a clinical study for patients with TRD.

  • Precision Neuroscience

    Participated · Series B · Jan 2023

Precision Neuroscience is a New York City–based brain–computer interface (BCI) company led by CEO Michael Mager. The firm is developing what it describes as the only BCI that is minimally invasive, safely removable, and able to process large volumes of neural data. Its technology is aimed at delivering breakthrough treatments for millions of patients suffering from neurological illnesses by seamlessly interfacing with the brain. The design prioritizes patient safety and high-bandwidth data capture, distinguishing it from other implantable neurotech solutions. Newly secured funding will be used to expand operations and accelerate research and development efforts. The article did not disclose any revenue, user figures, or other operating metrics.

  • Sensorium Therapeutics

    Participated · Series A · Nov 2022

Sensorium Therapeutics develops brain and mental health treatments derived from natural products and driven by mechanistic neuroscience. Its proprietary SensAI platform integrates artificial intelligence, chemistry, and neuroscience to mine more than 50 million curated relationships across biology, pharmacology, clinical outcomes, and human experience. SensAI has produced three differentiated programs in under three years, led by SNTX-2643, a first-in-class precision serotonin modulator for anxiety. The company recently received FDA clearance of an IND for SNTX-2643, enabling first-in-human dosing beginning in Q3 2025. Sensorium describes SNTX-2643 as re-engineered from a natural product to enable rapid onset, reduce off-target side effects, and avoid sedation versus benzodiazepine-like drugs. Sensorium has built an IP estate extending into the 2040s and has made executive leadership changes concurrent with its clinical advancement. Sensorium Therapeutics is a Boston-based biotechnology company developing nature-inspired psychoactive medicines for mental health. The company leverages medicinal chemistry, neuroscience, and machine learning to discover and optimize compounds. Its initial asset is SENS-01 and it operates the Biodynamic Discovery Platform (BDP), a drug discovery engine that rapidly identifies, synthesizes, and enhances targeted molecules as novel therapeutics. Sensorium closed a $30 million Series A financing to advance SENS-01 and further develop the BDP. The company aims to use the proceeds to move those programs forward.

  • iLoF

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2022

iLoF operates an AI and photonics platform that collects large-scale biological data to create digital twins and a digital library of biomarkers and disease subtypes. The platform is intended to enable biotech and pharmaceutical companies to make clinical trials faster, cheaper, and more patient-centric. The company says different patient profiles can be selected and screened to speed development of personalised treatments and support humane clinical trials. iLoF is fast-tracking ongoing engagements and pilots with global corporations in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and clinical space. Founders Mehak Mumtaz and Luis Valente plan to evolve the platform from a next-generation bioinformatics tool toward a disease screening product to directly help patients. Financially, iLoF raised a $4.1M seed round and a $900k ERDF grant and has $8M in total funding to date. iLoF has developed a disruptive, patented platform that detects nanoscale biomolecules in blood to generate optical ‘fingerprints’ of a patient’s phenotype and disease stage. The cloud-based library aggregates individual nano-sized biomarkers and patient biological profiles correlated with heterogeneous diseases to aid screening and clinical trial matching. The agnostic, label-free technology aims to identify suitable patients for trials, speed drug discovery, and reduce cost and time for pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners. The startup has applied the platform to gastric cancer cell detection and is adapting it to forecast clinical evolution in COVID-19 patients in hospital care. Currently engaged with leading biotechs, pharmas and hospitals, iLoF positions its tools to enable more personalized, non-invasive treatment stratification. Financially, iLoF recently secured additional funding and previously raised support from EIT Health as it scales collaborations and library development.

  • OccamzRazor

    Participated · Equity · Mar 2022

OccamzRazor is developing curative treatments for complex brain-aging diseases, including Parkinson's disease, by combining machine learning and data-driven hypothesis generation. The company builds an AI-enabled discovery platform that uses graph machine learning (RazorBrain), graph prediction (RazorLink) and natural language processing (RazorPanorama) to generate testable, data-driven hypotheses. Led by CEO Katharina Sophia Volz, OccamzRazor is headquartered at Johnson & Johnson's J-LABS innovation hub in New York City. The company raised $6.1M in a financing round led by Jeff Dean with participation from Lauder Partners, re.Mind Capital and Valor Equity Partners.
