Muroexe is a Spanish footwear and accessories company founded in 2013 by Esme M. Cardenal and Roberto Heredia that blends technical sports construction with minimalist, contemporary aesthetics. The brand sells through its own e-commerce and international distributors and had sold over 200,000 items across more than 50 countries in its first five years. It closed 2018 with about €3.0M in sales and four official stores in Spain, with approximately 20% of sales generated internationally. The company plans to use new funding to consolidate its Spanish retail footprint, including opening additional physical stores, and to accelerate international growth via its e-commerce channel. Muroexe also intends to keep investing in new footwear technologies and to expand its product lines into accessories and apparel as part of its 2019 roadmap. The brand targets young professionals and urban consumers by marrying technical performance with minimalist design. The funds from the recent transaction were earmarked to consolidate activity in Spain, expand in Germany, the UK, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg and Portugal, and to support a planned entry into the United States by the end of the year.
