Myomo is a medical device company that develops the MyoPro powered myoelectric orthosis to restore function for people with neuromuscular and neurological conditions. Its patented devices enable users to self-initiate and control movement of partially paralyzed limbs using their own muscle signals and have been clinically shown to help restore the ability to complete functional tasks. The MyoPro is used for conditions including stroke, spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injury, traumatic brain injury, MS, and ALS. Technology was originally developed at MIT with collaboration from medical experts affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The company is privately held and headquartered in Cambridge, MA. Myomo plans to expand sales distribution (including through VA hospitals and a new distribution agreement with Ossur), pursue new product development, and conduct expanded clinical studies.
