- Circular Genomics
Led · Series A · Dec 2025
Circular Genomics is building a proprietary circular RNA (circRNA) biomarker platform that analyzes highly stable, brain-enriched non-coding RNAs from whole blood to detect neurological disease biology before symptoms appear. Its lead application is an Alzheimer’s disease assay designed to outperform current PET and CSF diagnostics by providing an accessible, pathway-level view of neurodegeneration. The company’s data show robust prediction models, identification of presymptomatic patients, and specificity versus other dementias, positioning the test for use in early screening, patient stratification, and longitudinal monitoring. Beyond Alzheimer’s, Circular Genomics plans to expand its platform into other neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder. Near-term priorities include completing large clinical validation studies, enhancing the biomarker panel, forming strategic partnerships with pharma and diagnostic providers, and growing the commercial and scientific teams. The recent $15 million Series A financing provides the capital required to advance these initiatives and prepare the first assay for market launch.
- PinkDx
Led · Series A · Jan 2025
PinkDx is an early-stage company based in Daly City, California that applies advanced science and technology to address medical problems unique to women. Its lead program is a diagnostic test intended to clarify diagnoses for women who present with general symptoms that may signal a gynecologic cancer. The company aims to replace invasive diagnostic procedures, reduce delays in obtaining answers, and enable faster, more appropriate care for patients and physicians. PinkDx reports progress in discovery and development and is advancing the test toward clinical validation. The company completed an upsized Series A round totaling $45 million to support development and clinical validation toward commercialization. As part of BEVC's investment, PinkDx joined Bakar Labs, linking the company to UC Berkeley's life-science incubator and strategic resources. - Airvet
Led · Series B · Jul 2023
Airvet operates a pet telehealth platform that lets pet parents connect instantly via video or chat with a network of more than 2,000 licensed veterinarians and care providers. Led by CEO and founder Brandon Werber, the company moved into the employee benefits space in 2022 and now serves blue-chip employers such as PepsiCo, Adobe, Apollo Global Management, Synchrony Financial, Levi's, Lyft, and Manulife. Over the past year Airvet expanded its care platform to include online pharmacy, e-prescriptions, discounted pet insurance, wellness programs, and specialty care, and it recently rolled out multi-lingual experiences in Spanish and French. Its clients span more than 16 different industry categories, including Software and Technology, Media and Entertainment, Healthcare, Consulting, Financial Services, Insurance, Pharmaceuticals, and CPG. The company intends to use the newly raised funds to expand operations and accelerate development efforts. Airvet operates a telehealth platform launched in 2018 to connect pet owners with practicing veterinarians for on-demand visits any day and time. The company has shifted focus toward enterprise and employer-sponsored benefits, building a base of clients that includes Adobe, Ceridian and Rexford Industrial. Airvet expects to reach over 50 customers in the next year and says revenue is growing at a faster rate than before. The product roadmap and go-to-market now prioritize partnerships with employers and enterprises to improve access and affordability of pet care. Financially, the company has raised just over $33 million in total funding to date, including its recent Series B. Airvet plans to use the new capital to expand enterprise partnerships, accelerate product development, and build out sales and marketing teams. Airvet operates a telehealth veterinary platform with two apps: one for pet owners and one for veterinarians to organize workflows and conduct virtual visits. The company partners with veterinary clinics rather than replacing them, enabling vets to offer on-demand care and to refer for in-person needs when necessary. Airvet maintains a largely non-employed network of 2,600+ vets who can choose to take on-demand calls to generate additional income. Visits carry a $30 minimum and cases typically remain open for three days for follow-up chat; the platform is also used for curbside check-in during in-person appointments. The startup is two years old, has 13 employees, and says COVID-19 has been a significant accelerant to adoption. Airvet plans to expand into other pet health verticals and to integrate its workflow layer with existing practice management systems over time, citing a large U.S. pet market opportunity.
