Nūmi

Suresnes, Ile-de-France, France

Overview

Numi (formerly MUMilk) is developing in vitro breast milk by isolating, culturing, and growing human mammary cells to produce milk. The company sources mammary cells via partnerships with hospitals and lactariums and uses laboratory processes to extract and purify the produced milk. Its aim is to recreate a product as close as possible to natural breast milk, including its bioactive molecules. Founders Eden Banon-Lagrange and Eugénie Pezé-Heidsieck lead the effort to offer parents a natural choice when breastfeeding isn't possible. Numi plans to make the U.S. its first market due to novel food regulatory delays in Europe. The company recently raised seed funding to support recruitment and accelerate R&D.
