NanoDetection Technology is commercializing a low-cost point-of-care diagnostic system aimed at hospitals and physicians’ offices. The company’s initial target is detection of MRSA in skin and soft tissues. It develops detection platforms for pathogens, DNA and biomarkers across health care, food safety and bio-terrorism markets. Led by CEO Joel Ivers and based in Franklin, Ohio, NDT is pursuing clinical trials and regulatory clearance. The company says the current financing will fund its clinical trials and completion of Food and Drug Administration clearance for its new test. NDT expects initial U.S. MRSA-targeted sales early in 2013.
