Navier
San Francisco, CA, United States
Overview
Navier’s first product is the Navier 27 (N27), an electric hydrofoil recreational boat that combines hydrofoil electrification, lightweight composites and intelligent software to improve efficiency and ride quality. The company reports about 75 nautical miles of range (roughly 86 miles / 139 km) and aims to cut running costs of a marine vessel by ~90% versus traditional craft. Navier sold out its first 15 preorders after opening for reservations and says it has several hundred additional inquiries. The prototype and initial hulls are being built in Maine with boatbuilder Lyman-Morse, and Navier plans U.S. production with first consumer vessels expected in 2023 and a ramp to 400+ units by 2024. Leadership includes co-founder and CEO Sampriti Bhattacharyya, PhD, CTO Reo Baird, and lead naval architect Paul Bieker; the team emphasizes using foils to reduce drag and enable potential autonomous, waterborne robotaxi applications in the long term.
