Neuphonic offers a patent-pending incremental text-to-speech algorithm that generates speech word-by-word as text arrives, achieving ultra-low latency of around 25 milliseconds. Its approach enables real-time, human-like voice synthesis that can work with any large language model and is language-agnostic. The company distributes access via an API in an exclusive closed beta and reports a waiting list of hundreds of potential users and businesses. Neuphonic was founded by Jiameng Gao (former Papercup co-founder) and Sohaib Ahmad (former hedge fund quant trader), who met at Cambridge University. Headquartered in King’s Cross, London, the startup plans to use new funding to expand language and voice offerings, improve model performance through additional research, and develop on-device solutions. The team is growing as it pursues use cases across customer service, digital avatars, gaming, ed-tech, localisation and storytelling.
