867 Boylston St, Ste 500, Boston, MA, 02116, US
Overview
Nifti began as a price-tracking and alerts service and has launched Cinch, a separate mobile app for quick visual polls to gather friends’ opinions. Cinch lets users snap photos, send polls to phone contacts, and receive single-tap votes without recipients needing to download the app. Polls can be shared to Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp, and votes remain hidden until each recipient votes to prevent bias. Use cases cited include everyday choices like selfies, dinner plans, and outfits, as well as feedback for visual professionals such as designers and interior decorators. The pivot was informed by user behavior: price alerts were frequently shared for opinions, prompting the team to test and then spin polling out into Cinch while keeping Nifti.com online. The company described its prior growth as “promising, but linear,” and has retooled the product strategy to drive organic growth via social polling. Nifti is a shopping-focused price-tracking service that offers a website and a browser bookmarklet to let users add products to watchlists and receive email alerts when prices drop. The product also generates historical price graphs to show how current prices compare to past lows and highs. At launch it supports over 400 online retailers and claims it can add more with little effort. The company is monetizing today through affiliate income. Longer-term plans include using the aggregated shopping data to power personalized recommendations while giving users control over how merchants access their data. Immediately following launch, Nifti plans to expand retailer coverage and release an iPhone app in a couple of months.
