NitroVolt is developing a container-sized Nitrolyzer system that combines air, water, and renewable electricity in an electrocatalytic ammonia synthesis process. The company aims to decentralise ammonia production by producing green ammonia directly at farms, reducing distribution emissions and supply-chain vulnerability. Its process removes fossil fuels from production, making the ammonia 100 percent renewable, carbon-free, and competitive with current ammonia prices. With a newly secured seed round, NitroVolt plans to take its lab technology to the real world, scale the technology, and build a demonstration unit on a farm. The funding will also be used to identify and forge partnerships and suppliers to support scaling and system construction. CEO Suzanne Zamany Andersen highlights both environmental impacts through CO2 abatement and societal impacts by improving access to nitrogen fertilizer in exposed regions.
