Numascale develops NumaConnect™, an interconnect technology that lets high-volume manufactured server boards be used as building blocks for systems with features typically found in high-end enterprise servers. NumaConnect includes full support for virtualization of processing, memory, and I/O resources and can be used with standard operating systems. The company says the funding will be used to strengthen its financial position and to execute on its plan to become an important player in the supercomputing market. Numascale is led by CEO Kåre Løchsen and has offices in Europe, Asia, and the USA. Prior to the recent investment, its technology was tested for large-scale real shared memory systems under Statoil’s LOOP technology development program. The company received a NOK21M investment as the first of two tranches to support these efforts.
