Obsidio
1520 Main Street Unit 4-C, Columbia, South Carolina, 29201, United States
Overview
Obsidio is developing a shear-thinning embolic hydrogel biomaterial for transcatheter intravascular embolization. The material is designed for minimally invasive procedures to control bleeding, occlude tumor-feeding vessels, eliminate abnormal artery‑vein connections, and treat aneurysms. It is injectable via a wide range of catheters, compatible with most imaging techniques, and intended to be available off‑the‑shelf to reduce inventory costs versus coils. The company is pre-clinical and plans to use recent proceeds for clinical development of the product. Obsidio closed a $3M funding round led by IAG Capital Partners with participation from Good Growth Capital and other angel investors, and received a $225K Phase I SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation. The company is led by CEO Dr. Ehsan Jabbarzadeh and CMO Dr. Rahmi Oklu and is based in Columbia, S.C.
