Overview
Octave operates a modern behavioral health practice with in-person and virtual clinics and offers evidence-based, in-network therapy services. The company provides personalized care plans that can include individual, couples, and family therapy and has pioneered payer relationships to make care more affordable through insurance. Led by CEO Sandeep Acharya, Octave was launched in 2018 and currently serves California, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Washington, D.C. The company raised a $52M Series C, bringing total funding to $86M. Octave intends to use the funds to drive national expansion of its therapy services and to release new technology products for payer and provider partners. It aims to expand to more regions later in the year and reach all 50 states in 2024. Octave is a San Francisco-based behavioral health company that provides care through in-person and virtual coaching, and individual, relationship and group therapy. Led by co-founder and CEO Sandeep Acharya, the company launched its evidence-based therapy and coaching practice in New York in 2018. It now serves clients across California and New York. Octave raised $20M in a Series B to support technology and clinical innovation and the expansion of business operations. The company intends to use the funding to advance its technology and clinical offerings and to scale operations. Investors in the round include Health Velocity Capital, Cigna Ventures and existing backers such as Greycroft, Obvious Ventures, Company Ventures and Felicis Ventures. Octave is an evidence-based behavioral health practice and wellness community that provides in-person and virtual coaching, group therapy, psychiatry, and content and assessment tools to support clients between sessions. Since opening its first New York office in October 2018, Octave has launched group sessions for anxiety, LGBTQ patients, and expecting couples, and expanded virtual coaching nationwide and internationally. The company uses technology to increase access to care with 30-minute virtual coaching and 45-minute in-person therapy sessions designed to fit busy schedules. Octave plans to increase staff therapists and triple its provider base in the coming months, and will begin offering a variety of free classes for members. It is opening a San Francisco location at 625 Market Street and a second New York office in the Flatiron Building, with additional California and New York locations planned next year. Octave also announced an in-network partnership with Anthem Blue Cross of California, becoming the first startup in the space to be in-network with a major payer. Octave, founded by Sandeep Acharya (formerly head of strategy at One Medical), operates a mental health studio that provides individual therapy, a stress management coaching program, and daily drop‑in classes. Drop‑in classes start at $15 per class, coaching is $75 per session, and ongoing therapy is $180 per session. Octave conducts an intake call within a couple of days and aims to get people seen by a therapist within a couple of weeks. The studio does not take insurance, though many insurers may offer reimbursement. Octave is designed to serve people who do not already have an ongoing relationship with a therapist, while still allowing those in therapy to use classes or coaching. Its first studio is in New York City, and the company plans to operate six to eight locations within the next two years. Octave has raised an undisclosed seed round from Felicis Ventures and angel investors.
