Overview
Oddbox delivers weekly fruit and vegetable boxes containing produce at risk of going to waste to sustainably conscious consumers, alongside tailored recipes and data analysis that highlights a personalised measurable positive impact. The company uses technology and data to track and communicate environmental impact. The new funds will be used to enhance customer experience, expand its UK footprint and increase share options for employees. Oddbox reported an exponential six-fold year-on-year revenue growth in 2020 and says it has a highly loyal and engaged community. It has rescued 18,834 tonnes of fruit and veg, prevented 20,830 tonnes of carbon emissions, and saved 2,028 million litres of water. The business was founded in 2016 by Emilie Vanpoperinghe and Deepak Ravindran and positions itself as a mission-driven company tackling farm-level food waste. Oddbox operates a sustainable fruit and vegetable box delivery service that works with farmers to supply seasonal produce at risk of being wasted. Founded in 2016 and based in London, the company has rescued over 2,000 tonnes of produce and delivered 400,000 boxes within London. It works directly with growers to redirect surplus or imperfect produce into consumer subscription boxes. The company is developing customer-facing technology, including a 'personal impact' dashboard that shows customers the food waste, CO2 and water they have helped save. Oddbox plans to use new funding to support a national roll-out and further develop its technology.
