Okairos is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines using a novel proprietary technology to engage T-cells. Its platform targets the cellular arm of the immune system to combat infectious diseases including malaria, HIV, hepatitis C and universal influenza. The company is also exploring therapeutic vaccines to treat cancer. Okairos completed a €16M Series B private financing round led by Versant Ventures with participation from the Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund, BioMedPartners, LSP and Novartis Venture Funds. The funds will be used to advance the company’s portfolio of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines through clinical proof-of-concept. The firm is based in Basel, Switzerland and maintains laboratories in Rome and Naples, Italy.
