Omlet was founded in 2004 by James Tuthill, Johannes Paul, William Windham and Simon Nicholls after they developed the Eglu chicken coop at the Royal College of Art. The Eglu is award-winning, included in the Victoria & Albert Museum permanent collection, and more than 125,000 have been sold to date. The product range has since expanded to cover dogs, cats and small animals, and the company employs more than 60 people from its base in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Omlet shows strong customer engagement with 150k social media followers, 4.2m YouTube views, almost 10k annual user-generated interactions on its website, a newsletter read by 60% of customers, and 900 ambassadors across 10 countries. Sales are forecast to reach £40m this year, with 40% of sales in Europe and 25% in the US. The company plans to broaden its cat and dog accessory offering, deepen relationships with its global community, and leverage a bespoke e-commerce platform that allows product personalisation; Don Henshall has been appointed chairman to support global growth.
