One Kings Lane
1355 Market Street Ste 400, San Francisco, California, 94103, United States
Overview
Founded in 2009, One Kings Lane runs an e-commerce platform centered on discounted home furnishings and décor, later expanding into jewelry, accessories, private-label candles and bedding, and a consumer-to-consumer marketplace called Hunters Alley. The company differentiates itself through tightly curated sales events, celebrity tastemaker collaborations and media integrations with shows such as HGTV’s Design Star and Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorators. Membership has grown to 10 million, up from 6 million in 2012, and the business recorded about $200 million in sales that year, with subsequent quarters reaching record highs; one-third of revenue now comes via mobile devices. Despite this scale, the business remains unprofitable. New capital will be used to double down on personalization, data mining, improved search and mobile features, and to provide merchants with demand intelligence. Management aims to build a long-term aspirational brand rather than pursue an immediate IPO, and does not plan to add additional verticals in the near future.
