OnlineTyari is a mobile-first test preparation platform that delivers highly customized, curated and vernacular content optimized for very low internet bandwidths. Its product suite covers entrance tests for public sector units, government jobs and higher-education institutes, offering full mock tests, current affairs articles, and practice and benchmarking tools. Since launching in 2014, the platform has recorded nearly 3.5 million downloads and over 400,000 daily active users, and has seen a tenfold increase in average monthly time spent per user over the past 12 months. OnlineTyari was founded by Vipin Agarwal and Bhola Ram Meena, both graduates of IIT Kanpur. The company plans to expand its vernacular offering, widen exam coverage and strengthen its technology and analytics engine. The recent funding is intended to support those priorities and help scale access to test-prep services for students in smaller towns and low-income families. OnlineTyari offers material—including online tests and e-books—targeted to candidates preparing for competitive exams for civil services, banking, state government, and engineering jobs. The service is mobile-focused and currently available in Hindi and English, positioning itself to reach users who have largely leapfrogged desktops and laptops. The company partners with book publishers and content creators to source material and says it complements offline education providers rather than competing directly with them. OnlineTyari reports its app has been downloaded over two million times and has a daily active user base of about 200,000. Plans for the coming year include building out its online and mobile platform, adding all of India's top regional languages, and creating algorithms to help users study.
