Overview
Founded in 2023 as a Ghent University spin-off, OnTracx transforms biomechanics research into a smart sensor and analytics platform for the global running and sports-medicine market. A lightweight sensor worn on the lower leg measures tendon, muscle and joint load, with a unique emphasis on tracking cumulative stress over time rather than single-run metrics. The system combines objective load data with self-reported symptoms to give runners, physical therapists, podiatrists and coaches a clearer picture of injury risk and rehabilitation progress. With an addressable base of more than 110 million runners worldwide, the company targets those prone to lower-extremity overuse injuries. Recently secured seed financing provides the resources to refine the hardware, enhance the digital platform and scale commercialisation efforts. Near-term plans include preparing for market entry in Europe and the United States while deepening collaborations across the sports-medicine ecosystem. The €1.2 million seed round and accompanying VLAIO innovation grant constitute the company’s first external capital.
