Overview

Openbravo offers a comprehensive mobile and cloud platform that enables retail and restaurant chains to accelerate execution and omnichannel innovation. The company traces its origins to Tecnici and was constituted in 2001 by Nicolás Serrano and Ismael Ciordia. Its products grew out of web-application approaches developed at the University of Navarra. Openbravo reports customers in more than 60 countries. Headquartered in Barcelona with locality ties to Navarra, the company has raised external capital and used both equity and debt instruments. Most recently it closed a €1.4M venture debt round led by Sabadell Venture Capital with participation from existing shareholders Amadeus Capital and Adara Ventures. Openbravo develops an integrated, open-source ERP and a touchscreen POS solution aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises. The company reports several hundred fully operational deployments worldwide. In October 2007 Openbravo acquired Librepos (formerly Tina POS) and rebranded it as Openbravo POS, a multi-user touchscreen point-of-sale that supports ESC/POS printers, customer displays and barcode readers and can be integrated with Openbravo ERP or used standalone. Openbravo has received various international awards for its software. The company closed a second financing round of €7.7M ($12M) to support its next growth phase. Proceeds will be used to improve products, enhance service to the community, recruit more partners and open new international offices to accelerate global deployment.
