OpenCover is a blockchain insurance and cover data startup based in San Francisco and London. The company works with underwriters to help individuals and institutions protect themselves against onchain risks such as protocol exploits and governance attacks. It launched the first Ethereum Layer 2 cover aggregator, which makes over $200m of underwriting capital, initially from Nexus Mutual, accessible on Layer 2 blockchains to reduce transaction costs. OpenCover is launching with support for 12 protocols, including Curve, Aave and Safe, and plans to expand to more than 40 protocols by year-end. The startup is also building a B2B version of the product to enable onchain safety at enterprise scale. OpenCover has raised $4.6M in total funding and is led by founders and YC alumni Jeremiah Smith and Yury Oparin.
