Overview
Osmo is a digital scent design company that combines proprietary molecular data, machine learning, and human artistry to create and reproduce fragrances through its core platform, Olfactory Intelligence. Founded in 2022 by olfactory neuroscientist Alex Wiltschko as a spin-off from Google Brain, the firm has built the world’s largest structured scent data library and in 2024 demonstrated “Scent Teleportation,” the first full digitization of scent without human intervention. Its technology covers the entire product lifecycle—from formula creation to manufacturing and packaging—helping global consumer-product companies cut fragrance costs and speed time-to-market while giving emerging brands affordable access to custom scents. Beyond fragrance, Osmo plans to extend its olfaction capabilities into healthcare diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and other public-safety use cases. Recent executive hires from Unilever, Clorox, Givaudan, Tesla, and other majors signal a push to scale commercial, operational, and financial functions. The company has raised $130 million to date, providing the capital base to accelerate product development and market expansion.
