Otrera
Technopôle de l'Arbois – Avenue Louis Philibert – Cleantech – bât. Megie, Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, 13100, France
Overview
Otrera develops a sodium-cooled fast-neutron reactor (RNR-Na) design derived from CEA research and adapted with recent industrial advances. Its RNR-Na technology is intended to enable repeated use of reprocessed nuclear fuel, supporting a closed fuel cycle that reduces ultimate waste volumes and lessens the need for natural uranium extraction. With the newly announced €17 million financing—partly from France 2030 and partly from a private round including EDF, ADF, Onet Technologies, Exergon and Normandie Participations—the company is entering an advanced engineering phase. Otrera will use the funds to carry out its Avant-Projet Détaillé (APD), develop test capabilities, hire staff, and structure its supply chain. The company has announced plans to site a future industrial facility near Cherbourg (Manche) to prepare manufacturing and assembly of critical components for serial reactor deployment.
