  • TaiSan

    TaiSan operates out of a Cambridge battery lab and develops next-generation sodium batteries it says are more efficient than existing sodium-ion and lithium-ion rivals. The company targets applications including electric bikes, scooters, vehicles and power tools. Founded and led by Sanzhar Taizhan, a former Kazakhstani chess champion, TaiSan has kept several breakthroughs in stealth while progressing its electrochemistry. Financially, the startup has raised €1.7M in pre-seed funding and has just closed a £4.65M seed round that includes a £700,000 Innovate UK grant. TaiSan plans to use the new capital to enhance battery performance and begin pilot testing with manufacturers. The company intends to bring its sodium-battery benefits to a mainstream audience.

  • Sinergy Flow

    Sinergy Flow is a Milan-based startup founded in 2022 that has created a proprietary flow battery technology capable of delivering more than eight hours of continuous energy storage. The system is built around inexpensive, sulfur-rich industrial by-products, enabling a circular-economy approach across the device’s full lifecycle. By offering long-duration storage, the company aims to facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into electricity grids and provide utility-scale as well as standalone grid-support applications. With its technology, Sinergy Flow targets markets that require reliable, long-term storage to balance intermittent renewables. The company is currently moving from laboratory success toward commercial-scale validation. Proceeds from its recent seed round will finance industrial development and help prepare the product for market entry. No operating revenue or user metrics have been disclosed to date.

    Stellaria is developing the Stellarium, a fourth‑generation molten‑salt fast‑neutron reactor designed to fully regenerate its fuel during operation and be self‑sufficient for more than 20 years. The design aims to reduce long‑lived nuclear waste (minor actinides) and to provide competitive, safe and flexible low‑carbon power for industry and the grid. The company plans a first molten‑salt facility capable of sustaining a fission reaction by 2029 and expects a first production unit ready for commercial deployment by 2035. Funding announced in 2025 is being directed to technical and regulatory studies, the development of a liquid‑core fast‑neutron demonstrator, and R&D acceleration. Stellaria intends to double its workforce to support those efforts and to expand its Grenoble research laboratory by several million euros. The company was founded in 2023 and originates from CEA and Schneider Electric.

  • Mitico

    Mitico develops a post-combustion carbon-capture system that uses potassium carbonate pebbles bound with an additive to prevent them from turning to mush, leveraging a carbonation/decarbonation reaction the CEO described as “prehistorical chemistry.” The pebbles can capture more than 95% of the CO2 in an exhaust stream; once saturated the material is heated to release CO2 for storage or for use in plastics or e-fuels. The company claims that at commercial scale its approach should capture a metric ton of CO2 for much less than $85. An early pilot is attached to a boiler at a refinery in Thailand, and Mitico is initially targeting industrial-scale boilers with ESG-driven customers. Its broader plan is to expand into major emitters, with natural gas power plants cited as the real target market. To support scaling and build larger pilots, Mitico completed a seed fundraising round.

The company has established advanced manufacturing capabilities in Europe and reports producing and recycling thousands of Pd-based membranes every year. H2SITE is entering a phase focused on executing large-scale industrial projects and commercializing its solutions globally. It plans manufacturing growth and international expansion, including entry into Asian markets, supported by new strategic investors. The firm also benefits from earlier support through the EIC Accelerator programme for its ammonia cracking technology and has identified a project at the Port of Antwerp to help establish hydrogen supply chains.
