157 rue de l'université, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75007, France
Overview
Oxent operates Gamersband, a geo-social network that connects nearby video gamers to encourage face-to-face play rather than virtual-only interaction. Users can create “challenging zones” and tournaments tied to physical locations, compete in local rankings, and discover players nearby for events. Gamersband launched in late September and has attracted roughly 4,000 beta testers to date. The company plans to monetize by selling access to video-game publishers and retail stores for organizing local events and marketing campaigns. Oxent recently raised $500,000 in a Series A led by French VC Petit Poucet to help grow the network. Founders Antoine Frankart and Matthieu Dallon have extensive prior experience in gaming communities and events, which may aid user acquisition and partnerships.
