30 Upper High Street, Thame, Oxfordshire, OX9 3EZ, United Kingdom
Overview
Oxford Biotrans is a University of Oxford spin-out that develops specialty chemicals using its patented enzyme technology. Its first product is natural-grade nootkatone, the flavour and scent of grapefruit, which the company says will be available in commercial quantities in the coming months. The company closed £2.5m in Series A funding to establish purpose-built facilities and expand its team. Led by CEO Jason King and Chairman Will Barton, Oxford Biotrans aims to commercialize additional flavour product targets identified for its technology. It plans to realize further scalable, green, and economically attractive enzymatic processes for these targets and will explore opportunities in other market segments.
