OXIO
5 West 19th Street, 2C, New York, NY, 10011, United States
Overview
OXIO is the first fully-customizable telecom-as-a-service (TAAS) platform that uses web3-built technology to let brands act as mobile carriers via white-label, cloud-native products. The platform unbundles mobile telecom infrastructure and packages 4G and 5G carrier capabilities through modern UI and APIs. OXIO’s 100 percent cloud-based solution blends wireless infrastructure from multiple providers to deliver custom, asset-light networks rapidly. In Mexico the company counts clients such as Grupo Bimbo, Grupo Coppel, and Rappi. Financially, OXIO has raised $40 million in a Series B and previously raised $12 million in a Series A in November 2020, bringing total proceeds to $65 million to date. The company plans to use the funding to accelerate growth in Mexico, launch in the United States and Brazil, expand across LATAM, and hire senior revenue and finance roles along with product and engineering talent. OXIO is a New York-based startup that uses blockchain to enable “Telecom-as-a-Service,” turning mobile data into tradeable tokens so brands can offer telco-type services. Its platform lets brands piggyback on local telecom or satellite infrastructure via an API and aims to reboot the MVNO model by enabling differentiated, branded mobile plans tied to a company’s core business. OXIO has run pilots with large Mexican retailers, convenience stores, food and beverage companies, and drugstores to address high mobile-data costs in emerging markets. Technically, it has trialed token implementations on the Stellar blockchain and is testing Solana and Near Protocol as part of its wireless data token vision. The company positions tokenized data packages as a way to make wireless a tradable asset class and to align stakeholder incentives while enabling alternative payment models where users can "pay with data." Financially, OXIO announced a $12 million Series A and has raised $20 million in total since late 2019.
