Package Free

75 9th Ave, New York City, New York, 10011, United States

Overview

Package Free began as a pop-up shop founded by Lauren Singer to showcase sustainable CPG brands and has since become a full-fledged reseller with a permanent store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and a warehouse in Greenpoint. The company enforces strict vendor guidelines—no plastic in products or shipments, natural ingredients, and a three-strike policy with escalating penalties for infractions. Operational practices include reusing incoming dunnage (no virgin dunnage) and shipping to consumers in 100% recycled boxes printed with facts about trash. Package Free buys inventory wholesale and transitioned from pop-up revenue-sharing to a traditional retail and ecommerce model. With the newly raised capital, the company plans to develop its own sustainable CPG products to fill white-space categories and to hire marketing staff, having not done formal paid marketing to date. Its strategic goal is to scale sustainable CPG to achieve economies of scale and compete on price with large traditional CPG companies.
