Paerpay provides restaurants a contactless payment option that uses QR codes and text messages so customers can pay on their phones without downloading an app or changing hardware or credit card processors. The system lets guests scan a QR code to view order details and pay, which the company says promotes social distancing, increases payment security, and improves efficiency. Paerpay is running a pilot with a large, 500+ location fast-food chain to shorten drive-through wait times by allowing customers to order at the speaker and pay via QR before pickup. The company also works with partners such as Acrelec to integrate with kiosks used by major restaurant and retail brands. Founded and led by CEO Derek Canton, Paerpay intends to use the new funding to hire engineers, sales, and marketing staff to build out the team. Financially, Paerpay closed a $3M seed round that brings total funding to over $4.2M.
