Overview
PCH International is a China-based supply chain solutions firm and a leader in the accessories market for e-readers, tablets and smartphones. The company designs, produces and packages electronics and accessories in partnership with major gadget brands. PCH has also launched a business accelerator program, which was presented on stage at Disrupt NYC. Financially, the company announced a new funding round totaling $30 million. Two new investors — Northbrooks Investments and J. Christopher Burch — joined existing backers Norwest Venture Partners, Triangle Peak Partners, Cross Creek Capital and Fung Capital in the round. The company has raised prior rounds, including $26 million in February 2011 and $21 million in September 2008. PCH International designs, produces and packages electronics and accessories in partnership with major gadget brands. The company is headquartered in Cork, Ireland, and has operations in Shenzhen. Founder Liam Casey, dubbed “Mr. China,” leverages his Western background to work with U.S. and European brands. Revenue grew from negligible a few years ago to $400 million last year, and the company is described by Casey as extremely profitable. PCH’s products are likely in many consumers’ pockets or on desks. To address fast-growing Chinese domestic demand, Casey says the company is opening new facilities to serve that market. PCH International operates a supply-chain manufacturing business that sources factories and handles hardware assembly, ecommerce and shipping for device makers. The company built deep relationships with U.S. and European partners and says it works with most large PC and device manufacturers. It has been reported as the primary hardware partner for the Chumby device. By 2007 PCH had grown to about 800 employees and roughly $125 million in revenue and the company is described as "very profitable." Until the raise the business had grown solely from cash flow. Management says it is taking external capital to expand its operations.
